KXIP vs CSK Match Preview, Predication XI.

KXIP and CSK are currently placed 7th and 8th in the points table. The 2 points today will be crucial for both as they will surely look to rise higher in the points table early on in the tournament.

PUNJAB – GOOD BUT NOT ENOUGH

Punjab has played some excellent cricket so far. Rahul and Mayank are the top 2 run-getters with Mayank having the orange cap. Shami and Cottrell have taken 14 wickets together.
For all the stellar cricket that they’ve played, Punjab still finds them with just one win from their 4 games. There have been some superb individual performances but they’ve not ticked in tandem.

THE MORE DOING LESS

Rahul and Mayank have scored bulk of the runs for KXIP. Apart from these two, no one looks like scoring. Pooran has played a couple of decent knocks but not something which can be called match-winning. The likes of Karun Nair, Sarfaraz Khan, Glenn Maxwell, K Gowtham have all been struggling. Rahul and Mayank are becoming the Virat and ABD of KXIP, with all emphasis on them. This needs to change if they’re eyeing the play-offs spot.

CSK – EXPERIENCE NOT ENOUGH
CSK is no doubt the most experienced team of the IPL. But it’s not winning them games. Troubled with key players’ departure before the season’s start, coupled with rusty form of the players have made CSK very doubtful to qualify this year.

MISSING INTENT
It has now happened thrice in 3 consecutive games that the CSK middle order has not shown enough intent when the required run rate is rising continuously. In an attempt to take the game to the last 2 overs, they’ve often made it impossible for them by scoring in just ones and twos in the middle period.

UNSETTLED BATTING ORDER

Apart from KKR, if there’s another team that doesn’t have a settled batting order, it’s CSK. Nobody can guess correctly who will bat where. Chaos is not what is normally associated with CSK but this year’s different. Dhoni looked very tired in the last game. It could mean that Dhoni at 4 is no longer a need, it’s a wish. Jadeja played well in the last game whereas Jadhav’s inability to accelerate cost CSK the game.
