RR vs RCB Match Preview and Predication XI
Rajasthan Royals are desperate for points. They meet RCB today for a day game. RCB’s agenda will be to solidify their position in the points table.
Rcb – The Need To Keep Things Simple
Kohli needs to keep things simple. Sending two left handers in Sundar and Dube to counter KXIP’s leg spin ahead of ABD proved to be a tactical error. Kohli at 3 and ABD at 4 have been RCB’s strengths over the years. RCB are enjoying a good run here. If only they could keep things simple, the playoffs spot seems like a surety.
Morris’s Performance In The Death
Morris’s performance in the death overs in the last match, both with the bat and the ball was the biggest positive for RCB. Although 25 runs of 8 balls didn’t change the match, it showed that if needs be, Morris can pull some quick runs of his hat. With the ball too, Morris has been phenomenal in the death. He has bowled 4 overs so far this year in the 16-20 overs period and has given 3, 9, 4, 4 runs respectively in those 4 overs. If Morris can continue this performance in the death along with Dube (with the bat) and Udana (with the ball), it could be vital for RCB’s cause.
RR – Missing Tactical Punts
RR are missing important tactical punts. They need to have Ben Stokes at 5 or 6. They lost the last match due to their inexperienced lower order and Stokes could have avoided that. Rajasthan Royals have thus far managed to win just 3 games, 2 of them with the heroics of Tewatia. Maybe it’s Tewatia’s good form in the slog overs that has given them the confidence to open with Stokes. A player like Stokes at 5 or 6 gives them the experience to handle crunch situations where slogging every ball is not needed. This tactical punt can improve their balance.
Are Jaiswal And Uthappa Confident?
Rajasthan started their campaign with Jaiswal as the opener but he was dropped following a duck in his first innings. Uthappa has played 6 of 8 matches so far, his scores being 5, 9, 2, 17, 18 and 32. Jaiswal was given another match in which his strike rate of 94 cost him his place. RR has looked skeptic with Jaiswal and Uthappa and a lack of confidence in the players can affect
their performance. Both them have not looked confident on the crease.
Big Guns Have Stopped Firing
Steve Smith and Sanju Samson set the stage on fire in their opening games. They stacked up runs for fun but both of RR’s big guns have stopped firing. Smith has managed to amass just 41 runs in the last 5 innings and Samson just 60.
