Australia set another massive total of 389

It was the 2nd ODI of the series between Australia and India at SCG. Once again Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to bat first. The Aussie openers David Warner 83(77) and Finch 60(69) once again gave their side a good start by setting a 142 runs stand. But then both got out in a gap of 3 overs giving some relief to the Indian bowlers. But that wasn’t the end of it as Steve Smith and Labuschagne joined in and started scoring runs with ease. Smith was the aggressor in this partnership as he hit his 2nd century of the series scoring 104(64).

Labuschagne 70(61) on the other end played the anchors role. Maxwell joined Labuschagne in the death overs and once again punished the bowlers with his 63(29). Australia eventually finished at a massive score of 389/4. For Team India an unfit Hardik Pandya was the pick of bowlers with figures of 24/1 in 4 overs.

Indian batsmen try their best but fall short

Chasing a steep total of 390 in the 2nd ODI was never easy. But once again the openers gave a good but steady start setting a 58 run stand. But both Mayank Agarwal 28(26) and Shikhar Dhawan 30(23) got out in quick succession. The new pair of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer 38(36) got a good partnership. Just when Shreyas Iyer was looking good for a big one he was caught by smith which meant Rahul had to join his skipper at the crease. Virat and Rahul too put in a good partnership with a good rate to give the fans some hope. But Virat 89(87) got out to an excellent diving catch by Henriques.

After Virat’s downfall Rahul showed an aggressive approach as he hit 5 huge sixes in his innings. But he too lost his wicket to spinner Zampa with a score of 76(66). All rounders Hardik Pandya 28(31) and Ravi Jadeja 24(11) tried hard but the Aussie bowlers were much better on the day. India eventually finished at 338/9 as Australia beat India by 51 runs. And also go up 2-0 in the series. For Australia Cummins picked 3/67 and Hazlewood picked 2/59.

Australia 389/4 Steve Smith 104(64), Warner 83(77) Pandya 1/24, Shami 1/73

India 338/9 Virat Kohli 89(87) , KL Rahul 76(66) Cummins 3/67, Hazlewood 2/59
