In the 2nd test of the series held at Wellington, NZ scored big in the 1st innings but WI once again fell short of the first innings score. They were made to follow on the 1st innings score of NZ, but the WI batsman disappointed yet again in the 2nd innings as they lost the match by an innings and 12 runs.

Henry Nicholls scores big in 1st innings, WI batsman fail to show resistance
In the 2nd test at Wellington, West Indies skipper Jason Holder won the toss and opted to bowl first. His decision proved to be a good once as NZ lost 3/78 by the end of the 20th over. Tom Blundell 14(19), Latham 27(53), Ross Taylor all got starts but couldn’t capitalize on it. Will Young 43(87) too gave away his wicket to Gabriel. But Henry Nicholls didn’t give up as he kept setting partnerships with other batsmen’s. BJ Watling 30(51), Daryl Mitchell 42(68), Jamiseon 20(57) all gave handy contributions but once again couldn’t score big. Finally Henry Nicholls 174(280) was joined by Wagner 66(42) and these 2 took the score past 450 runs. Henry Nicholls hit a massive ton while Gabriel and A Joseph picked 3 wickets each.
Chasing 460 in the 1st innings, WI batters once again disappointed everyone. They were 29/4 at one stage. K Braithwaite 0(8), j Campbell 14(37), DM Bravo 7(30), Shamarh Brooks 14(92), holder 9(25) everyone seemed clueless in front of the NZ bowlers. Only Blackwood 69(92) crossed the 50 run mark with the bat. His knock helped the WI to at least cross 130 runs in the 1st innings. WI were eventually bundled out at 131/10. Southee and Jamieson picked 5 wickets each in the 1st innings.
WI batsmen’s perform better in 2nd innings but yet fall short by 12 runs.
WI were made to follow on NZ’s massive 1st innings score after their failure in the 1st innings. In the 2nd innings they had a better start but all of a sudden lost 2 quick wickets. K Brathwaite 24(42) and DM Bravo 4(3) failed to deliver again. John Campbell and Shamarh Brooks had a good partnership. But brooks 36(72) nicked one to Watling. Roston Cahse came in next and didn’t trouble the scorers. John Campbell 68(109), Blackwood 20(33), Jason Holder 61(93), Joshua Da Silva 57(84), Alzarri Joseph 24(12) all contributed with the bat. But that wasn’t enough as WI lost all wickets on 317. And lost the Wellington test by an innings and 12 runs.
Trent Boult and Neil Wagner picked 3 each while Southee and Jamieson picked 2 wickets. Henry Nicholls grabbed the Man of the match award. While Kyle Jamieson got the Man of the series award. With this win NZ have climbed to the no 1 spot in the test team rankings.
