IPL 2021: RR vs PBKS match preview and predicted playing XI
We’ve already seen couple of close matches in the IPL 2021 season so far. But, we are yet to witness a typical high scoring game and we might see that on Monday. Two batting powerhouses in Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings will compete against each other in the 4th match of the IPL 2021.
An eye on Sanju Samson’s maiden game as a captain
Rajasthan Royals didn’t have a great run in the IPL 2020. Although they finished last in the points table, they had a good time playing at Sharjah. The reason was a strong batting showdown. Having released Steve Smith, Rajasthan Royals now have a new leader in Sanju Samson. He’s not only the skipper of the side but also the only Indian experienced batsman in the team. He’ll have a huge responsibility on his shoulders. Talking about the team combinations, Jos Buttler will open for the team. However, the one to partner him is under doubt. Ben Stokes is a strong contender in the same. Although that top order along with Samson looks eruptive, there’s a big hole in the middle order as there is hardly any experience there.
Riyan Parag and Shivam Dube will have a massive role to play in the middle order. Jofra Archer’s absence will be a massive setback for RR as he was the enforcer in the PP.
Will Punjab Kings improve their performance from the last year?
Although the points table of the IPL 2020 won’t suggest it, Punjab Kings actually did well in the last season. They lost some really close games which they should’ve won it. With KL and Mayank to open, and Chris Gayle, this batting line-up is already a fire cracker. And, addition of Nicholas Pooran makes it one of the best in the tournament. KL will have to work on his strike rate issues as last season he was trying to bat deep. And, in the process, he was not able to play freely. They’ve got some exciting additions to their squads in Riley Meredith, Shahrukh Khan, etc. Riley Meredith will be accompanied by their lead pacer Mohammad Shami. However, the former might not play the first game.
