A learning curve for skipper Rishabh Pant
Similar to Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals also faced a top-order collapse. This time it was Jaydev Unadkat who exploited the conditions well. Pant somehow managed to take the game forward and he was successful in doing so for quite some time as well. But it was in the bowling where the game slipped of their hands. Being not in a very good position, the pressure was built by the bowlers upfront. The Stoinis over did change the momentum of the game and that’s where the captaincy went wrong. It is a learning curve for Pant and he’ll look to improve his decision making in this match. Tom Curran was a huge disappointment, he wasn’t nailing his back of the hand deliveries and hence had to pay the price in the end.
Are Punjab Kings highly dependant on their skipper KL Rahul?
Punjab Kings who scored over 220 runs in their first game seemed a solid batting order. But the fact that KL Rahul was present till the end shows the impact of him in their batting order. The team experienced a nightmare against CSK where they faced a top-order collapse. Deepak Chahar was all over them. Shahrukh Khan batted alone amid the collapse, he tried very hard but could only take the total to 106. As KL Rahul himself mentioned in the post-match conference that it was maybe a 150-160 sort of wicket but definitely not a 110 wicket. Hence, it’s expected to be low scoring game as Wankhade has changed its type of wicket.
