A FIGHT FOR REDEMPTION
Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad lock horns tonight in a quest to win their first win of the Dream11 IPL.
CAN IT BE THE KNIGHTS’ NIGHT
Coming from a rather embarrassing defeat from the Mumbai Indians, there were little to none things that went in KKR’s favour.
Middle Overs Conundrum Both with the bat and the ball, KKR struggled to dominate in the middle overs. Kuldeep Yadav has not been the kind of bowler which he was 18 months ago. Not only is he expensive with the ball, his ability to strike at crucial times have diminished.
Pat Cummins didn’t even bowl his quota of 4 overs. Giving away just one shy from a fifty in his 3 overs. Although he did try to make it up with the bat but the game was long lost before his heroics with the bat. With the likes of Lockie Ferguson on the bench, it will be interesting to see how long does KKR persist with their precious purchase.
Talent Defies Age
Shivam Mavi was one of the biggest positive for KKR. He swung the ball and swung it mad. If he manages to penetrate through Warner and Bairstow in the beginning, it could make life very easy for KKR.The other youngster Sandeep Warrier had a forgettable night. It’s too early to judge but another bad performance from him could see Kamlesh Nagarkoti make a debut.
WILL SRH HIT IT IN THE “MIDDLE”
With the departure of Mitchell Marsh, SRH find themselves deeper into the hole of not finding a middle order combination. While Manish Pandey looked promising, the others did not. In Priyam Garg, Vijay Shankar and Abhishek Sharma, SRH has a pretty inexperienced and low on confidence middle order.
Can Kane Come?
If Kane Williamson is fit, it will give SRH the much needed boost as regards their middle order, albeit leaving Abhishek Sharma and Vijay Shankar the role to play the 5th bowler.
Rashid Decoded?
RCB showed a way to tackle Rashid Khan which might just become a blueprint for others to follow. Taking no risks against him and just hitting the gaps for ones and twos decreases his wicket taking ability. But Rashid will know this, and does the batting heavy KKR have the patience to do it?
