Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie won the toss and elected to field first. This was a good decision because defending a target has been difficult here at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The home team did not get a good start. Craig Young dismissed 3 top order batsmen relatively cheaply. Captain Asghar Afghan tried to stay patient on the crease and scored a 41 off 82 balls.

Rashid Khan scored a quickfire 48 to take his team to a respectable total.

At one point Afghanistan were in trouble at 163-7. But Rashid Khan scored his batting prowess and scored runs at a quick pace. He alongwith Gulabdin Naib ensured that the home team put up a decent score on the board.

Paul Stirling powered his way to 11th ODI century.

Ireland started well in their chase of 267 runs. Their opener Paul Stirling scored his second century of the series. But he was running out of partners from the other end. In fact, more than half of the team runs were scored by Paul Stirling.

Rashid Khan shone once again with the ball as well. He picked up 4 crucial wickets and gave away just 29 runs in his 9 overs. No wonder he was picked man of the match.
