It’s the contest between the most elderly team and the youngest team of the IPL. The CSK akathe Dad’s army take on the youth of DC in the 7th match of the Dream 11 IPL.
CSK – EARLY TROUBLES
Very rarely do we see potholes in the CSK lineup but this year’s different.Middle Order Woes Rayudu is not expected to be available for this match, confirmed by CSK coach Stephen Fleming. Ruturaj Gaikwad might get another chance. In the absence of Rayudu and the openers not firing, there’s too much pressure on Faf and Dhoni to perform. Dhoni looked rusty in the first game, so did Jadhav.
DC has Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer in their top 5. And CSK has no off-spinner. Had not Bhajji left, it would be very difficult for the DC batsmen to tackle him. The googlies from the leggies and the left arm bowling of Jadeja might not be enough to stop the dynamic batting line-up of DC. Record That Matters CSK and DC have played 21 matches with CSK winning 15 of those! It’s something CSK would draw confidence from and DC would like to change.
DELHI – YOUNG BUT GOLD?
A Captain to Look Upto
Iyer might not have the flamboyance like the Sharmas and the Kohli’s but he played a good knock in their last game, showing his capability to do both, anchor the innings and also slog the ball at will. He’ll be looking for some support from Dhawan, Shaw and Pant.
Stoinis – The Russell for DC?
Stoinis won it for them. With the bat and with the ball, he was brilliant. Can he be that player for DC who can consistently finish games with the bat and chip in with the ball too. Plus, he’s got support from the likes of Heitmeyer who on his day, can rip apart any bowling line-up. If DC can get 45-50 runs every last 5 overs, it’ll make jobs easier for their bowling unit.
Will Ashwin Play?
Ashwin will be assessed on the eve of the game. He looked superb in the one over that he bowled, taking 2 wickets. Amit Mishra might get a game should Ashwin not pass the fitness test. But given all that, there’s still too much for Rabada to do. Nortje and Mohit had a poor match and will look to rectify the mistakes.
