Delhi Capitals beat Rajasthan Royals by 46 runs in a game played here in Sharjah. By this win, Delhi once again regained the top spot in the points table surpassing Mumbai Indians.
TOP PERFORMERS OF THE DAY:
Man of the Match : Ravi Ashwin
DELHI CAPITALS: Bat: Hetmyer 45(24) Stoinis 39(30)Bowl: Rabada 3.4-0-35-3 Ashwin 4-0-22-2

AS IT HAPPENED:
RARE TOP ORDER FAILURE FOR DC:
Batting first, DC started positively but Rabada broke their momentum. He dismissed both Shaw and Dhawan for 19 and 5 respectively. Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer was looking in a good touch but was ran out for 22. Pant followed his skipper and was run-out due to mix up with Stoinis.
STOINIS-HETMYER RESCUED DC:
After quick wickets, Delhi was in a big trouble for some time. Stoinis-Hetmyer partnership took them back on track. Stoinis made 30 ball 39 including 4 sixes. After departure of Stoinis, Hetmyer took onus on himself and helped to put a commandable total of 184/8. Archer once again showed his class and picked up 3 wickets.
ASHWIN GOT BUTLER AGAIN!
The memories of Ashwin mankading Butler are still fresh in our minds. This time also Ashwin got rid of Butler but not the way he got it last time! Butler tried to slog Ashwin but he mistimed it and gave simple catch to Dhawan at short midwicket.
CHASE NEVER GOT GOING:
After the early departure of in form Butler, RR never looked good in the chase and Delhi bowlers got wickets at regular intervals. Every bowler got his name in the wickets chart. Especially Rabada continued his ‘purple’ patch with tya ball and took 3 wickets.
WHAT WENT WRONG FOR RR?
RR bowlers did a good job to restrict DC to below par score but it is their batsmen who failed to deliver. In a chase above 180 someone from top order had to play big innings and anchor the chase. RR failed to do this.
