India record lowest test score as Australia beat India in 1st test

In the 1st test match of the series between Australia and India, which was a pink ball test at Adelaide. Australia defeated India by 8 wickets and went 1-0 up in the series. Team India recorded its lowest test score of 36 in the 2nd innings.

1st Innings: India 244/10 Virat Kohli 74(180), Cheteshwar Pujara 43(160) Mitchell Starc 4/53, Pat Cummins 3/48

Team India takes important 1st innings lead

In the 1st test match of the series which was also a day and night game. Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bat first. Team India didn’t have the best of starts as they lost opener Prithvi Shaw 0(2) in the 2nd ball of the match. Mayank Agarwal 17(40) as the next one to depart. With the score board reading 32/2. The 2 pillars of Indian batting line up Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli walked in. Both showed absolute class and patience at the crease. The Aussie bowlers were bowling very goofd line and length. So the experienced duo decided to see them off. At one stage they had just 48 runs on board of 30 overs.

Once they got themselves in they tried to up the run rate. But C Pujara 43(160) departed after a good knock. A Rahane and Virat Kohli joined in and had a good partnership. But Virat Kohli 74(160) got run out when he inching closer to his ton. A Rahane 42(92) too didn’t last long after that. The next few batsmen H Vihari 16(25), W Saha 9(26) and R Ashwin 15(20) didn’t contribute much. The tailenders departed on single digit scores and India lost all wickets at score of 244. Starc picked 4 while Cummins picked 3 for Australia.

Chasing 244, Australia too didn’t have a good outing. Only Tim Paine 73(99) and M Labuschagne 47(119) scored big. Rest of them got starts but didn’t capitalize. M Wade 8(51), Burns 8(41), S Smith 1(29), T Head 7(20), C Green 11(24) none sticked for long. Australia were bundled out for 191. Things could have been worse for Australia hadn’t India dropped few chances. R Ashwin [icked 4/55, while Umesh Yadav picked 3 wickets.

Team India records lowest test score and gets beaten by Australia

With an important lead of 53 runs in the 1st innings. A lot was expected from Team India in the 2nd innings. But they ended recording their lowest test score of 36/9. None of the Indian batsman could cross the 10 run mark. Mayank Agarwal 9(40) was the top scorer. Followed by Hanuma Vihari 8(22). India eventually set up a target of 93 runs for the Aussies. 4,9,2,0,4,0,8,4,0,4,1 were the scores from Indian start studded batting line up. Josh Hazlewood picked 5/8 while Pat Cummins picked 4/21.

Chasing 93 was like a walk on the park for Australia as they chased it in 21 overs loosing 2 wickets. Joe Burns scored 51(63) while M Wade scored 33(53). With this win Australia go 1-0 up in the test series. Meanwhile Tim Paine was picked as Man of the Match for his good batting and captaincy.
