IPL 2021 : SRH vs KKR match preview and predicted Playing XI
After two very eventful days in the IPL 2021, it’s time for the third encounter in this tournament. David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai on Sunday. It’ll be an exciting contest between these two sides as both of them are similar sides as far as team combinations are concerned.
Will a well-balanced SRH side continue their good form from the last season?
SRH finished third in the IPL, last season. SRH is one of those sides that have ticked every box in their team. They’ve got enough options in every department which helps in a long tournament like IPL. The batting department led by the skipper Warner is filled with firepower. In-form Jonny Bairstow along with Warner at the top can change the dynamics of the game. They don’t take much time to get settle on the wicket. Enjoying each other’s company on the field has certainly helped them over the years. They’ve even signed Jason Roy as a replacement of Mitchell Marsh.
The addition of Jason Roy makes this side a batting powerhouse though he might not start in the playing XI. Kane Williamson has always been an important asset for the side, he’s an excellent batsman in all the phases of the game. At last but not least, the duo of in-form Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan are the backbone of the SRH team. That’s the reason, they’ve been so comfortable defending the targets in the IPL. Moreover, the young guns in Abdul Samad, Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma add immense value to the side.
Will KKR bounce back?
The Kolkata Knight Riders haven’t made the playoffs since 2018. They try their best but just get marginally short. KKR ended on the 5th spot in the IPL 2020. As far as team combinations are concerned, the addition of Shakib-al-Hasan adds so much to the side as he makes the side balanced. They’re guarded by Shubman Gill along with Rahul Tripathi at the top with Nitish Rana and Eoin Morgan to come next. Dinesh Karthik will once again play the role of a finisher.
Andre Russell’s form will define KKR’s success in this season as his contribution down the order is very crucial for the team. The bowling department is controlled by a young group of bowlers including Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi and an interesting prospect Varun Chakravarthy who got a national call-up after the IPL 2020. Experienced Harbhajan Singh will also have a role to play on slower tracks like Chennai.
