Sanju Samson Extraordinary Knock On Captaincy Debut Proved Insufficient In The End As Punjab Kings Beat Rajasthan Royals By 4 Runs. Sanju Samson Led Rajasthan Royals Fell Just 4 runs short of the huge target of 222. After Loosing The Toss & Put To Bat , Punjab Posted A Huge Total Of 221 On The Board. In response , Rajasthan could score 217 runs and at last failed to cross the line.

Punjab Kings : 221-6 (20 overs). KL Rahul 91(50), Deepak Hooda 64(28), Chetan Sakariya 3/31.

Rajasthan Royals : 217-7 (20 overs). Sanju Samson 119(63), Riyan Parag 25(11), Mohammad Shami 2/33 .

Man Of The Match : Sanju Samson

Although Rajasthan royals lost the match but Sanju Samson was selected the man of the match for his superb knock on captaincy debut. Sanju played extremely well and scored the first century of this IPL season. Sanju score 119 Runs of 63 deliveries which included 7 huge sixes and 12 fours . He scored runs against each Bowler with ease As he progressed in his innings. He also became the first player to score a century in IPL on captaincy debut.

Huge Total Posted by Punjab Kings

An stunning knock from KL Rahul (91 Runs of 50 Balls ) helped Punjab Kings Posting a  Huge Score Of 221 Against Rajasthan Royals. Giving Their Captain A Superb Company , Chris Gayle & Deepak Hooda Played Some Explosive Knocks. Deepak Hooda was promoted at no. 4 By Punjab Kings & he proved the decision right. He came with all guns blazing & scored 64 runs of 28 balls. His innings included 6 huge sixes . Gayle scored 40 runs of 28 balls & was dismissed by young Riyan Parag. Every Rajasthan bowler proved expensive except young Chetan Sakariya who took 3 wickets & gave Only 31 Runs .

Rajasthan Openers Gone Cheaply

Rajasthan Chase started very bad as they lost both their openers very cheaply. Stokes couldn’t score even a single run and was dismissed by Shami on duck. Even Manan Vohra & Jos Buttler failed to play big innings and were dismissed cheaply with Manan scoring only 12 and Buttler 25.

Samson Stunning Century Goes In Vain

Sanju Samson Stunning century could not help Rajasthan to cross the line. Sanju fought like a lone warrior , while wickets continued to fall at the other end. Except Sanju Samson , None of The Rajasthan Batsmen Managed To Reach 30 Runs. He kept rotating the strike initially and started hitting big sixes as the innings progressed. With 13 required of the last over Sanju Samson and Chris Morris could only manage to score 8 Runs . Sanju was caught at the boundary by Deepak Hooda on the last ball when Rajasthan required 5 runs to win. Punjab kings hold their nerves in the end and won their first game of the season.
