Suryakumar Yadav New 360 Degree Player ? Mumbai Indians Won by 5 Wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore .

MI have gathered 16 points in their 12 games after they beat RCB tonight. With their net run rate being the highest in the competition, they look like a sure shot top 4 team. RCB, on the other hand are beginning to lose their mojo. They are still at 14 points and 2 games remain for them.

PERFORMERS OF THE DAY

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE Bat: Devdutt Padikkal 74(45) Joshua Philippe 33(24) Bowl: Mohammed Siraj 3.1-0-28-2
Yuzi Chahal 4-0-37-2
MUMBAI INDIANS Bat: Suryakumar Yadav 79(43) Ishan Kishan 25(19) Bowl: Jasprit Bumrah 4-1-14-3 Kieron Pollard 1-0-5-1

AS IT HAPPENED

Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to field first. RCB skipper Kohli looked pleased with how the toss went. He was happy to bat first. While MI had no changes, RCB were sporting 3 changes – Dale, Philippe and Dube in for Saini, Finch and Moeen.

New Opening Duo Works for RCB
The pairing of Joshua Philippe with Devdutt Padikkal worked for RCB. The two youngsters at the top gave RCB a fiery start against an experienced MI bowling. RCB were 54/0 after 6 overs.

Bumrah Derails RCB’s Innings

RCB were starting at atleast 180 after the powerplay but it was Jasprit Bumrah that completely derailed RCB’s innings. First, he got rid of Virat Kohli to claim his 100th IPL wicket (his 1st one in the IPL was Kohli too). Next, he choked RCB as he dismissed Dube and Padikkal in quick intervals.

RCB Struggle Towards the End Credit to Bumrah and Pollard, MI had RCB struggling towards the end. RCB managed just 35 runs in the last 5 overs and finished 20 runs below what they should’ve gotten. MI had a target of 165.

Neither of the teams at any stage seemed to be just running away with the game. Both the teams were in contention till the end in what panned out to be a cat and mouse game. RCB looked in hunt when they got a few wickets in the middle but a settled Surya saw the game through for MI.

Suryakumar- Too Good to be Left out of Indian Team?

Suryakumar Yadav proved his metal today. He brilliantly anchored the innings and never allowed RCB a foot in the door. He has been racking up these performances time and again now and it’s almost bizzare that he still hasn’t received a call for the national side. Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten and made 79 off 43 balls and made his highest score in the IPL. The others around him contributed just enough to hand MI two points.

Steyn – Just Not a T20 Bowler!
Dale Steyn is no more the limited overs bowler that he was years ago. In the 3 games that he has played this season, he has concerned 33 (3.3 overs), 57 and 43 (tonight) runs and hasn’t taken match-defining wickets either. Leaving out Udana for Steyn didn’t pay dividends and RCB will look to rectify that.
