Velocity lost to Trailblazers in the 2nd match of the Women T20 Challenge today. Trailblazers completely dominated Mithali Raj’s led Velocity as they got bundled out on just 47 which is the lowest score ever in the history of the league.

AS IT HAPPENED

Velocity won the toss and chose to bat. It was their 2nd game of the tournament. They won their first game against Supernovas yesterday. On the other hand, Trailblazers made their first appearance tonight in this year’s league.

Velocity ‘Blazed’ Away

Coming in after a good victory, no one expected Velocity to outright surrender in their batting. They lost their first wicket on the 2.3 over mark and lost another four within the next 20 balls. Of the 5 wickets that Velocity lost, 3 were taken by Sophie Ecclestone who was the architect of the brutal collapse. 13, 11 and 10 were the three highest individual scores in Velocity’s innings and lasting 15 overs seemed like an accomplishment. 47 is all that they managed and every bowler of Trailblazers made an impact , either with wickets or run containment.

THE CHASE
Although Trailblazers’ captain Smriti Mandhana couldn’t make an impact, it was never going to cost much with just 48 to chase. Opener Dottin along with number 3 Richa Ghosh easily chased the target under 8 overs.

THE ROAD AHEAD
Velocity’s net run rate has taken a battering. Simultaneously, Trailblazers’ net run rate is through the roof, making them very likely to reach the final even if they lose their 2nd game against Supernovas. The only way Velocity can reach the finals is if Supernovas lose their game against Trailblazers, which is very likely, given Trailblazers form. trailblazers won by 9 wkts .
